WhereAmIP is a free, non-commercial open-source project published under the MIT license. This website carries no advertising, sells nothing, and is not operated for profit.

Privacy (Datenschutzerklärung)

Hosting. This website is hosted on GitHub Pages, a service of GitHub, Inc., 88 Colin P. Kelly Jr. Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA. When you open the site, GitHub processes the technical data your browser sends (IP address, user agent, requested page, time) in its server logs to deliver the page and to defend against abuse. GitHub is certified under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework. Details: GitHub General Privacy Statement and GitHub Pages data collection. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR: the legitimate interest in delivering a website reliably and securely.

No tracking. The site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no third-party scripts, and loads its fonts from this same origin. Nothing about your visit is collected by the project author.

External links. Links to GitHub, Homebrew, MacPorts and other sites lead to services with their own privacy policies.

The app. WhereAmIP itself has no tracking, no analytics and no accounts. Which network requests it makes and why is documented in the Privacy section of the README.

Contact by e-mail. If you write to the address above, your message and address are used only to answer you and are deleted once the matter is closed.

Your rights. Under Art. 15–21 GDPR you may request access to, rectification or erasure of your personal data, restriction of processing, data portability, and you may object to processing. You may also lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority, for example the Berlin Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (Berliner Beauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit).
